Resilience Mappers from Uganda is our Summit 2020 Microgrant awardee!

Congratulations to Resilience Mappers for being selected as the recipient of the hOSM Summit 2020 microgrant!

Congratulations to Resilience Mappers for being selected as the recipient of the Summit 2020 microgrant! They will be receiving $5,000.00 to support their proposed community engagements and have the opportunity to join the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Summit in 2021!

Their project focuses on mapping waste dumpsites, health and educational facilities in informal settlements in Kampala, Uganda. The data and maps will be used by Actogether Uganda, a support NGO for the National Slum Dwellers Federation of Uganda (NSDFU), for community-driven negotiation with policymakers for city-wide slum upgrading and to work on community-driven initiatives for transforming urban settlements in Kampala.

The selection process was reviewed by three HOT representatives (staff and voting members) and one representative from ESRI. The projects were graded based on community-driven goals, inclusivity, partnerships, expandability, and collaboration. Furthermore, the proposal’s project planning, budget, and endorsements were also taken into consideration.

The selection of the second round of the Facebook Community Impact Microgrants is underway until 12 February. Six communities (three from Asia-Pacific and three from East Africa) that leverage OpenStreetMap (OSM) data and open data tools to help solve local challenges will be selected for the Microgrant.
