Disaster Services Manager - Eastern and Southern Africa Hub / Eastern & Southern Africa
Wilson Munyaradzi is a Disaster Services Manager at the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) Eastern & Southern Africa Hub, where he leads disaster preparedness and response initiatives using open mapping tools to strengthen resilience and informed decision-making for governments, organizations, and communities.
With over 16 years of experience across Southern Africa, he has worked with international organizations, governments, and local partners to address complex humanitarian and environmental challenges. His career includes eight years with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as a GIS Officer/Field Officer, later serving as Information Manager at MAG International, a humanitarian demining organization. He also contributed to conservation projects with WWF across six countries, specializing in vegetative mapping and habitat management.
He is particularly interested in approaches that connect geospatial tools with local realities, guided by the philosophy that “What Gets Measured Gets Improved.” His work reflects a broader commitment to community-centered design, open data, and practical, sustainable solutions that make geospatial information more accessible, inclusive, and actionable.
