Camila Garzon-Ruiz

Business Development Manager

Camila is currently working with HOT as a Business Development Manager on the Fundraising Team.

Camila brings a decade of experience at the intersection of humanitarian response, governance, climate resilience, and international development. Her work focuses on building strategic partnerships and securing funding that enables community-driven, data-informed solutions in crisis-affected and disaster-prone contexts. Camila is also a partner at a startup in Colombia focused on renewable energy innovation and environmental protection.

She previously held business development roles at MSI (a Tetra Tech company) and Heartland Alliance International, and served as a Technical Specialist in governance and stabilization at the Near East Foundation, supporting complex, multi-year programs across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

At HOT, Camila supports proposal development and fundraising strategy, working across teams to translate technical ideas into compelling investment cases for foundations, institutional donors, and philanthropic partners. She is especially passionate about approaches that strengthen local leadership, anticipatory action, and equitable recovery.

Camila holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po in Paris and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Texas A&M University. She speaks English, Spanish, and French. Outside of work, Camila enjoys exploring nature, dancing to loud music, and connecting with people.
