Shabani Magawila
Bio
I’m Shabani Magawila from Tanzania. Alumni and Supervisor at IRDP YouthMapper Dodoma. Also, I’m HOT Data Quality Intern for 2022. Currently, I’m volunteering at National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) as GIS Spatial Data Cleaner
My journey with HOT started on 2017, as president and founder of IRDP YouthMappper in Mwanza together with Janet Chapman and Benedicta Hosea. From there, I get started to attend different workshops and events like StateoftheMap 2017 in Dar es Salaam, then FOSS4G 2018. I started to learn and be very interested on activities performed by other organizations. This made me to organize Open data Day event at IRDP in 2018. Also, through HOT I got the chance to participate in different projects like Ramani Huria in Dar es salaam. Women Connect in Mara, Road Import in Dodoma and Finally Mnadani Community Mapping Project in Dodoma as Project Leader.
